Water
Countdown to the release of Book 3-Volume 1 of Avatar: The Last Airbender
Book 1 was centered around the water tribe and Aang learning to master waterbending techniques with the help of Katara.
So there, you have it, the first illustration in the Avatar series (actually the second one chronologically but it made more sense to submit them to Deviant Art in the order of the books). Hope you like it.
Couple of points worth noting. First of all, I can't believe I didn't use transparency in my vector illustrations before... It seems so obvious now that I really feel silly for not thinking about it before. Second, for the details savvy you may have noticed that this is the first illustration I submit where the eyes are a little more than a simple oval. I thought Katara deserved the extra attention
Earth
Book 2 takes us through the Earth Kingdom as Aang learns Earthbending from Toph, a new character for season 2.
This is actually the first illustration of the series before Katara but, as I already said, it made more sense to follow the order of the books than the chronological order. This shows a little in the look of the character but not too much...
As a bonus, I did a step-by-step : I thought it would be fun to see the evolution from circles to the finished picture. Hope you'll enjoy it
Fire
Book 3 Volume 1 just came out on DVD and I have been staying away from the TV episodes and the summaries over the internet... so I don't really know too much about the story yet
Zuko wasn't too hard to do and I am pretty happy with how the pose turned out. The firebending logo was a little more difficult, first because it took me a while to find a good reference picture and second because it's all curvy and... bendy?
I think this one is my favorite of the 4 (yes, there's one more to come)
Air
Jumping the gun a little here since we're still on season 3 (Book 3) but I was one close to finishing the whole Avatar series of illustrations so there... Aang, the Avatar, the Last Airbender.
Surprisingly enough the logo is what took me the most time on that one. The text was simple enough and you'd think that by the 4th time I would have the process pretty well defined. Well, yes, the process was well defined but I'm not really good at curvy things that aren't circles
Anyhow, continuing with the more dynamic poses, so far so good. Hope you like it.

I can. > I've seen the commercials and I'm extremely skeptical about reallife movies that come from cartoons/books. they're NEVER good in my opinion. XC you can call me a critic if you want, but I've always hated them.
