The tour is about to start. There are no guests here. You see one anyway. He has long strawberry-blonde hair, and he’s off to the side, looking at exhibits as if he belongs here. If he catches your eye, he’ll look away. There’s a pale imprint of a star on the right side of his face, over his eye. The tour guide isn’t bothered by him; maybe he’s supposed to be there.

After the feedback session, you’re all sent to an auditorium. This portion of the event wasn’t mentioned in the email. A speaker takes the stage. You might recognize him as the visitor you saw earlier. Now, his hair is colored white with a tinge of blue. His face is decorated with shiny blue stars, with one of them framing his right eye.

The speaker introduces himself as Comet Calloway. He tells the gathered crowd that he’s persuaded the GCR to award prestige to anyone who agrees to join his project to travel to the surface. It will be dangerous, but participants will earn an unheard-of 100 prestige per day for every three-month block during which they participate in missions. He looks a little zealous. He looks a little scared. Like he has taken something shiny from someone very important and rich, and he is telling you all that he is not only running away with it but sharing it with you. But one thing his energy does not suggest is that he is your friend. Perhaps you wonder what he gets from all of this. Comet gives everyone a brochure that details how to sign up for these missions. The first one happens next month.
