"Before you ask, you can’t come to the gala. Several Bene Gesserit women will be there, and in the past I’ve gotten complaints about your face.”
the Dune villains are so over-the-top evil it's like, there's not really a detailed conversation happening here about anything, the author's basically putting a big neon sign in front of them that says they're bad guys in an adventure story and they need to be stopped. They're cartoon villains from old-timey scifi. If this was a western, they'd be tying people to train tracks. If any of them had a mustache, he'd twirl it. They deserve to lose and they suck. Evil isn't glamorous, it's ridiculous and ineffective and doomed. Piter probably makes accordion sounds when he slinks around.

----------------------------------------------------
A three panel digital art comic featuring Piter de Vries and Baron Vladimir Harkonnen from Dune.
Panel 1:
Baron (holding a stack of papers and smiling): Ah, Piter!
Piter was slinking past, but he froze mid-slink, and now he’s looking over at the baron apprehensively.
Panel 2:
Baron (with his arm around Piter, handing him a huge stack of papers, smiling): A gala of great importance is coming up. Before that time, I will need a report on the major weaknesses of every invited guest, a floor plan of the venue, the names and addresses of prominent journalists on that world who cover horse races, a marble-sized emerald and a fake emerald that looks exactly like it, and an airtight plot to kill a dentist. I put together some notes to get you started.
Piter is accepting the stack of papers. He looks concerned.
Panel 3:
Baron (from off-screen, handing Piter a bird cage with a pigeon in it): Oh, and I also need a poison that's only detectable to pigeons. Have that finished by this weekend at the latest.
Piter stares back at him, looking accusatory, worn down, and trapped.
