Description
Now that May; the most stressful month this year, is finally over and I get some time off to cool off (right before my birthday too, hot damn) I decided to upload something I wanted to do for literally weeks. Update my characters.

By which I mean I had 4 big ideas regarding my 4 main characters; Ruben, Rosewood, Houseware and Savannah. So I decided to basically put all of those ideas into one sketch dump to help display them in one swoop. Which, if you think about it, is kinda the point of sketch dumps in the first place.

First off, we have Ruben Falcon, seen at the end of a long day of hard work at his part-time job he does outside of being a PI for CASE. Some of you may remember that job as being the head of Brainstormer's; Ruben's own industrial company that felt like a combination of amusement park, circus and factory. Sort of like a World's Fair, but 24/7 instead of once a year. But after careful consideration, I decided that Ruben isn't gonna be the person in charge of this little company. Instead, that title is gonna go to his boss; Carmen Nebula.

So much so that instead of "Brainstormer's", the lot will now be called "Carmen's". Not as creative, I know, but gimme a break.

I changed it from Ruben being in charge to not being because it's a lot less stress on him as a character. I know I based Ruben off of Batman and Iron Man; given he technically doesn't have super powers, he's just a dude in a fancy suit, but because Bruce and Tony could run their own businesses and fight crime doesn't mean Ruben can. Or should. Not to mention, while Ruben is an inventor, selling his inventions for a profit hasn't really be a stable of his character. Brainstormer's wasn't the only attempt at that and it wasn't the only attempt that didn't work out. So just throwing that role to another character puts a lot less stress on Ruben. Because if Ruben was just the handyman of the industrial lot--hell, even if he was assistant manager, he'd still have more time on his hands than if he was the top banana of the joint.

Which is exactly why I made him head of maintenance and assistant manager of the joint.

As for Carmen Nebula herself; she's a character that's based off of several different female mentors I had in my life. Teachers, previous bosses, this one babysitter I had when I was a little kid. She's known Ruben for so long, she's practically his godmother. She knew him since he was a kid and saw him grow up. She was even friends with Ruben's father; Ruben Sr. or "Cleaner Boy" as she use to call him, given his original job when they were kids. In terms of personality, she's a sweet old lady that'll sass your ass off if you cross her or her loved ones.

As for Savannah Fortune, it's very simple: her last name isn't Fortune anymore. Her new full name is "Savannah Vixen". Why? Because I thought it a while ago when I rewatched some of my favorite DC hero shows, saw Vixen, remembered how much I f*cking love her--non-romantically, I mean in the sense of how awesome she is--and later decided to rename Savannah after her...not a clear train of thought, now that I think about it.

Not the first time I renamed her character, though. Some of my older fans from my Brainstormer623 days may remember Savannah as characters named "Violet Va Voom" or "Susan Vulture", so this is fine. Hell, Savannah's original name was from Carmen Sandiego, not to be confused with Carmen Nebula, so it's not that much of a difference.

What is much of a difference is changing Savannah's baby monster pet from "Minnie" to Mira. Which makes a lot more sense because her pet is literally based off of a chimera; a mythical creature that, much like Savannah's pet, is a mix of a tiger, goat and snake. Except a real chimera is a 3 headed creature where each one of the heads is the aforementioned animals, Mira is a tigress cub with goat horns, a rattle snake tail and, for some reason, bat wings. But I just like Mira better since it sounds like "chimera". It's like how a lot of genies are named Gene.

Next is Rosewood. Her new update is that she can switch between being a quadruped to a biped whenever she wants. Also, she wears clothes. Both are ideas I wanted to do with Rosewood for years and both revolve around the main source of inspiration for not just Rosewood but for 99.99% of my content: Blue's Clues.

For one, while most of Blue's Clues puppies walk on all 4 legs, like Magenta, Green Puppy and Blue herself, there are a few rare moments where the dogs stand on 2 legs. On one hand, we have Blue in her live action, mostly full of puppets, massive let down spinoff; Blue's Room. On that show, Blue, her baby bother; Sprinkles and all of the puppies in Puppyville all walk on 2 legs instead of just 4. And on the other hand, there's Rainbow Puppy: a 2 feets walking, actual words talking, rainbow striped puppy that has become a raising star on the Blue's Clues and You reboot since season 3. So seeing this swap between the dogs made me think of Rosewood like this, doodled her on 2 feet and couldn't decide whether to keep her on 4 legs or switch to 2 so f*ck it, she can do both whenever she wants.

As for the clothing thing: has anyone else ever watched Blue's Clues and noticed Blue is the kinda animal character that wears clothes for specific situations, like winter days and swimming, but is basically naked all other times? Hell, there are times we see the closet in the Blue's Clues house's bedroom and we see tons of clothes with Blue's spots that she straight up never wears. Mittens, sneakers, literal underwear. So I decided Rosewood was gonna wear clothes from now on, 4 or 2 legs.

Plus, let's be real here: it's cute to see dogs dressed in clothes. Just ask literally anyone on TikTok.

Last but not least is Houseware. And he has a new interface console. Previously, Houseware's interface was an AI icon shaped like a house with a face on it. Something I did for years until Mickey Mouse Funhouse ripped off my concept for Houseware, like, 2 years ago. F*ckin' pricks. Now, his interface console is a robot that looks like a grandfather clock with Houseware's head, a windup key on the back, robotic arms, a rounded door just like Houseware's actual house has and a unicycle wheel. Some of you are probably looking at that description and asking the following question:

"Ruben, was this another attempt to distance Houseware from the Mickey Mouse Funhouse show that ripped you off, or is this, like, a genuine idea that you had and wanted to do for fun?"

The answer: a little bit of column A, an overwhelming majority of column B. I thought of this concept when I was thinking of concepts for House Bots; the robotic furniture in Houseware, when I tried to think of how to do a robotic grandfather clock. But it didn't work for the same reason why that one time I tried to redesign Houseware as a Tickety Tock styled clock tower didn't work; something about round clock faces on a square body weirded me out. At least in the way I drew them. To which I told myself "Pfft, this isn't gonna work. It's just like that time I tried to redesign Houseware as a clock tower--" and BAM! This was the end result.

Think of this robot form as something that you usually see either inside Houseware's pocket dimension of an interior, or away from Houseware himself. Since, you know, you can't drive a mobile house into buildings.

Aaaaand, that's it. These were a bunch of ideas I've been holding in for literally ages. I hope you guys like these new ideas because I feel a lot better getting rid of some of my old and staled ideas and putting in new ones. I always like to keep these as fresh as possible.
