a poem

It was a misty morning
With a thin layer of wet
Fog rolling in

I stood before you
And called your name
Your face had a blank stare

And suddenly turning your head
I did see a small purple tear
Rolling down your cheek

A cold feeling came over me
Then I looked again
But it was not you

The face slipped into the
Morning dew...I knew it
Must be your twin sister
She seems sad yet happy
At the same time

Strange sounds came
Forward to my ears
Horns of bagpipes flowing
In-n-out of time

A voice crying Danny boy
With marching souls
Going to the meadow glen
Of yonder hill faraway

Then the ground under
My feet turned to stone
A vision of a cross
With a rose in the middle

I knew then my dream
Was of one that came before
As the rings of nine struck

I found myself upon
The bedroom floor
With eyes wide open
