I looked her square in the eye.
"And what would you say if I enjoyed it?" I asked, crossing my arms.
"You can't possibly enjoy it! Insanity is so weird!"
"Uh-huh. You say that now." I said with a laugh.
"Cat, you're not supposed to be like this!"
"But I am, deal with it." I began to walk past her.
"I refuse to remain your friend if this is how you're gonna act!"
I stopped dead.
No way.
She really said that.
I turned; the wrath of the gods on my face.
"Then I guess I can't count you as a friend anymore." I said as I turned and walked away.
Soon I found myself running down the stairs, out the school's door… Thank god that at least Zack and Genesis were there. They noticed that it was me. I ran faster determined to get to them and then I tripped, flying then falling and sliding on the sidewalk. I had several new scratches on my arms. I heard them coming toward me. I had almost no will to get up. In a sense, I was heartbroken. I hurt more from what she'd said to me than the scratches. God, I hurt like hell, but I didn't know why. She wasn't a close friend, but I still… I felt tears come down my cheeks and I was heaving with sobs. Not here.
"Dammit…" I mumbled with a tear stained voice as I wiped away my tears. Still more came. I tried to steady my breaths, but I couldn't. I felt a pair of strong arms wrap around me. I opened my eyes.
"Z…Zack…?" I managed to stammer.
"Cat, it's alright. I'm here." He said as he began to stroke my hair.
"WE're here." Genesis corrected, giving me a reassuring squeeze on my shoulder.
"Thank god that I at least have you guys." I said, "In the heat of all this insanity."
