The Project
The Last of the Disciples is planned to be a Christian RPG that will help bring the gospel to a group of people who otherwise might not hear it. With the help of Fantasy Soft and HiQ Technologies, this game will be brought to you on PC! The Last of the Disciples will take aspects from Strategy games like Fire Emblem and mix them with high brow action found in RPGs like the Mario & Luigi series. The game will have a release on PC no matter what, but if we reach our funding goal we will also release the game on the Nintendo 3DS.
Today, video games have a strong influence on our youngest generation. Many young people spend a large quantity of their free time playing video games. The issue is that the majority of games on the market are not always wholesome entertainment. With nonsensical and immoral games like Grand Theft Auto taking the ranks as top seller in this industry, I think it's safe to say that this market is desperately in need of Christian influence. Almost all games, films, books, and shows use the archetypes set by Biblical archetypes to tell a story but for no purpose other than entertainment. While we want this game to very enjoyable and of high quality, we also want to be sure we use what makes all good stories great: what we get from the one true story. Not only will our product be wholesome and hopefully enjoyable to anyone, but we also plan to show that good media can be made without using what Hollywood tells us it must have.

Yes please. Also, it's awesome how Fantasy Soft is having a part in this. I can't wait for Prince Adventures to come out!

Er. No offense, especially considering my strong standing on atheism, but... just one thing that is really not meant to offend you! This is just an observation.
Christianity has tried a similar project many times and failed, even from much more currently popular developers (looking at you, Scott Cawthon, you glorious bastard). People don't flock to a game simply because of the design or simply because of the fact that it is a game. Far from it, in fact. GTA V and Call of Duty and all of those made it to where they are based on one fact: people need violence. It's a stress reliever and through the medium of video games stress can be easily vented without causing actual harm to a living being.
That said, assuming this is an RPG, that is a further hindrance, as the only RPG to do well in recent years did so through much more dynamic characters than what I assume these four to be (the Gospel writers, although why they're all alive at the same time I haven't the foggiest). Obviously I refer to Undertale. This game became popular due to unique character personalities that were so full of unhindered charisma and charm that it made it very hard to dislike them, whereas a huge audience (again, just talking statistics) will see this as an affront. It's like every joke you ever see about Jehova's Witness, it's just... preachy, which is not the way to go when confronting an enemy in, say, a debate.
Anyways, in closing, it isn't video games themselves that have huge influence, or even the content, which would make much more sense. No, in today's main gaming populations, it's capitalist greed and therefore the gamers that influence the games themselves.
Coincidentally, although I am an atheist (and a one that is strongly opposed to Christianity in general, too), I represent and when we get a working Indie game developer board, if you would like, you may submit this game to the board with a playable demo to be featured on one of the larger communities of gamers on DA for what is basically free advertising. Cheers~

wait what?? XD well Hello there mr. Bambu. Um I just quoted the "Amazing egghead production" on my message and its good to know that you read and reacted to his idea. Yes, I think capitalism might take a big part to the situation and also, you know the internet and technology probably help pushed their agenda further, Imho. Market research is a little bit more predictable that also made an issue to creativity in some point.
Anyway, Atheist or not opinions are always welcome and thanks for welcoming me on DA gamers.
yay! free advertising ~ cheers~

Yep. Check the page every now and then to see when we get Super and I'll be adding a widget for game dev advertising for those that can provide a playable demo.
Cheers~

This is definitely something whose time has come. When one of the most Christian-friendly things on the market is the "Five Nights at Freddy's" franchise, things are unbalanced. That said, I do find the Psychonauts game to be a decent enough game with minimal problems for a Christian player and it's got a sequel coming soon.

It's a fun game, whether you're playing or watching a Let's Play/Playthrough, with some great messages. Not necessarily quote-for-quote Biblical but who says that truth can't be found other places? Grace of "God's Not Dead 2" might have been correct in her statement "Just because certain facts happen to be recorded in the Bible doesn't mean they stop being facts." But the reverse is also true; just because it's not in the Bible or backed up with Scriptural quotes doesn't mean it's not worth learning. My mom decided she liked the Pokemon franchise after she saw the first movie's message about how senseless fighting just hurts everyone.

Wow, what a blessing it was for me to come across this piece of artwork. You see, I am a manga artist that is creating an original manga and visual novel, both that will be Christian media. I am a Christian and I have been wanting to find a project similar to my two ones, so that we both can support each other. Not only that, but from what I know of the the story/characters from the video on the Kickstarter, it is VERY similar to my manga. I will definitely be in contact with the company very soon. ~ Dana

Oh my, thank you so much for this link! I'll definitely be doing some fanart and adding it to my portfolio to show them, since I'm interested in doing the manga of their game that they mentioned on the Kickstarter. You're very welcome and thank you as well! ^_^

Man, if I still played games, I would play this! It looks good. God burned that stuff out of me though.
Good luck with this and God bless!
