Description
NBCUni= NBCUniversalSo as many of you most know, Qubo was bought by Scripps Network back in September 24th 2020 (Along with Ion Network, Ion Plus, and Shop Ion). But however, at the same time, it was announced that Qubo, along with the other latter 2 said networks, will be shut down in February of that same year. And so, on the final day of February (Which is the 28th of that year) Qubo, along with Ion Plus and Shop Ion has officially permanently ceased all broadcasting. The reasoning why, is that Scripps' subsidiary Katz Network, want to focus on other Channels. (i.e. BounceTV, Laff, Grit, and CourtTV)
Now, as a kid growing up in the 2000's/Mid 2010's, that was a very emotionally gut punching to me. But surprisingly, it's safe to say that I grew watching Qubo. Even though I don't have the Qubo Channel at my household, I did enjoyed watching the Qubo block on Ion. Especially in from 2006-2012, when it's on NBC every Saturday Mornings, right before NBC Kids took it's place.
So, as most of you know: Qubo was originally an joint venture between Ion, NBCUniversal, Scholastic, Corus Entertainment, and Classic Media in 2006. And it's servers as not only an Friday Afternoon Block to Ion, but as an Weekend block to both NBC and Telemundo. In March 28th 2012, following Comcast acquisition with NBCUniversal, the company announced that It'll be dropping it's Qubo blocks, and replaced it with both NBC Kids, and miTelemundo. Both blocks would be programmed by PBS Kids Sprout (Now known as Universal Kids), in which of course, it'll be owned by them upon merger. And on June 30th/July 1st, the Qubo on NBC/Telemundo Blocks are now discontinued, and Ion became the sole channel for the block, until it's end in 2022.
Now, with that little whole backstory out of the way, I was kinda wondering, "What if Qubo was bought by Comcast/NBCUniversal in 2021, instead of Scripps.)
Well, in my Alternate Universe, that officially happened. But at the same time, it was also announced that the company will revived the Qubo block for both NBC and Telemundo on both the Weekends. (Saturdays on NBC, and Sundays on Telemundo). Along with that, there will be a free video on-demand streaming service app for Children ages 3 to 13. (Which is something that the original Qubo has NEVER done before).
As for programming, just like the original, the revival will have archived content from a vast programming libraries: such as NBCUniversal, Corus Entertainment, Scholastic, Trilogy Animation Group, WildBrain, Nelvana, 9 Story Media Group and Splash Entertainment. As well as some of NBCUniversal/Comcast owned content from Illumination, and Dreamworks Animation. While the new Qubo app will have a library of it's legacy programming as well.
So guys, that is my what-if scenario, if Qubo was brought by NBCUniversal in 2021. To be quite honest, I don't an Universal Kids Block on NBC in my AU wasn't my cup of tea, tbh. And plus, I grew watching Qubo on NBC anyways, so why not do a block for it instead. If you agreed or disagreed with me, let know in the comments.
Oh, and one more thing I wanna put out, Is that I wanna to used that Qubo logo that made on his Gallery, but he'd didn't respond me. So hopefully, he can accept my request.
But that's all from me. Peace!
Qubo was actually owned by Scripps Networks.
NBC, Telemundo was owned by NBCUniversal/Comcast.
