You can do this in any medium, in fact i developed this way of drawing lips when i was working in pencil.

I've been doing a lot of realism lately, that you haven't seen because i still have to finish it , but i showed my friend and she really liked the way i drew lips so i made this tutorial for her.
Up close they don't really look realistic but they do when you view them from far away

Sorry if i made spelling mistakes, i'm awful at typing and i didn't have spell-check.

Hopefully this is at least slightly useful to everyone.
