In this story, God showed Daniel the story of the different succession of world empires by describing them as beasts. God intentionally described these empires as beasts because they represent the oppressive and violent nature of human kingdoms that oppose God and his people time and time again as the violence culminates to an entity called “the little horn” which made war against God and His people.
However, the story concludes in the heavenly throne room where Daniel saw God the Father sitting in His throne with Jesus, described as “the Son of Man”. This human description of Jesus stands in contrast with the beastly description of the earthly empires. This contrast shows how Jesus came not as a beastly warrior but as a humble servant, who died on the cross for our sins and rose again for our salvation. His kingdom is not based on force or fear but on love and grace. Yet in this story, it is this same Jesus who would uphold justice and fight for His people against these beasts.
