“She chose well,” Thea admits.

Marcy hums in agreement, not taking her eyes off of their new arrival through her camera's viewfinder. The filly, known as Evie, had wandered off the horsebox looking like she hadn’t spent all night travelling only a month after being weaned, and is now enjoying stretching her stiff muscles out in her paddock. She’s exploring it at a canter, showing off her fancy footwork for the two geldings next door.

Her unusual coat shines bronze in the weak sunlight, and she’s fit for a photoshoot with how pretty she is against the golden tones of autumn. She’s quite elegant for her age, except the big hocks that she’ll grow into.

“I’ve looked into the breed and — damn, if I had the money…”

“If we had that kinda money, we wouldn’t be working here,” Marcy laughs. “We’d be at our own yard, not stressing over university courses.”

Thea smiles faintly. “How’s the studying going?”

“Don’t get me started. I can’t wait until we’re doing practical lessons and work placements. There’s so many worksheets…”

I really wanted to get this done despite being ill this week, and tbh I'm kinda enjoying not detailing and shading everything every time. flat colours are cute!
