Description
To my favourite feary of all time, a handsome little lady with a giant's heart, a lovely soul, a great musician, a beautiful singing voice, an amazing Bodhran player, a fellow booklover, a herbal witch-lady and lover of everything tea or fantasy^^, a loyal companion and true friend...This drawing contains several different elements, with lots of symbolism hidden in here. The stag represents nature, Cernunnos, the lord of the beasts. At the same time it is meant to represent the wild and untamed in all of us, the force that, if allowed t run free, drives and inspires us so much. Above it and inbetween its antlers there is the moon, which stands for the sacred feminine, the moon cycle, nature's tidal powers, all that is circular within this world, the light within the darkness. Also, if you take a closer look, you can probably tell that it is not only a moon, but a Bodhran at the same time. This is a traditionally Irish instrument played by the Celts. The drumstick for this instrument is delivered by a tiny singing bird, spreading its wings in happy flight. Both of these are meant to represent music and the melodic force within all musicians. Also, bodhran / moon are both covered in ivy, which again stands for the natural force that surrounds us and, if allowed to grow freely, can inspire and protect us in this world. Furthermore it is an icon used quite often in the celtic world, which both of us are quite interested in, also being an important symbol used in the musical circles that inspire us the most. Which is also why I have chosen to draw some more ivy in the corner on the left-hand side of the picture. On the right-hand side you can also find an iris, which as a highly symbolic flower, among other things, stands for creativtiy and growth in the human and the natural world. It is also said to symbolize faith, wisdom, hope, courage, and cherished friendship, all of which I hope will grow in abundance during all of your life, my dearest Becci!
Love you to the moon and back! 'Hope that you like this little present and 'story' behind it.
