My second try at using a graphics tablet! Fully hand-drawn (minus the fabric effect on Rocket's suit) with Intuos Pro M in Photoshop CC, using one of the official posters of the movie as reference.I loved the movie Guardians of the Galaxy (if you didnt watch it yet... GO WATCH IT!)
And what did I love even more than the movie? This incredible duo formed by Rocket and Groot!

Update: I was really bothered by the top of the background... blue wasn't deep enough, and the size of the whole thing was kinda crushing Rocket & Groot under its "weight". So here it is. A deeper blue, to contrast correctly with the fiery red at the bottom, and I cropped the image to redirect the focus back to the duo. Hope you like the (small) changes!

I'm not sure how I can make it available as print - this is a downsized version of the picture, the canvas I worked on was about 10,000px / 8,000, so much bigger and could work as print I guess.
However, I'm not sure either if I making it available as print would be "ok"; it's Marvel copyrighted material after all!

I know I've mentioned it before, but you have done a phenomenal job on this. The textures on everything are so detailed and realistic, including the clouds on the planet in the background. Jesus I thought this was just the poster with effects and saturation and stuff added, and then I read the description and just read "fully hand-drawn" and I'm like wat.
After being on DA for 3 years I'm still amazing by what people are capable of doing.
This is absolutely amazing, I'm looking through this and I can't spot a single mistake.
You said this was all handdrawn except for the texture on Rocket's clothes, how did you end up getting the texture for it?
Hopefully I'll be capable of this level of talent one day

For the texture on Rocket's orange suit, I created a new layer ontop the drawing, and applied one of photoshop's stock fabric texture. I then changed the transfer mode to overlay (if I remember right), and played with the opacity, brgihtness and contrast of the layer till it merged with the suit in a satisfying way.
Before I did that, Rocket's suit seemed too "smooth" and felt more like plastic or rubber!

Where do you find the fabric texture in photoshop? I can't seem to find it anywhere.
Also how long did this take you to make? Cause it took me like 20hrs to make something that didn't look nearly as good as this doesΒ

The fabric texture is one of the patterns coming with Photoshop (when you select the Fill/paint bucket tool, select Pattern instead of Foreground color). Depending on your current pattern set, you may need to load one of others with the little button on the right when you select the pattern - names are quite explicit, and there's a lot to choose from.
As far as how long it took me, I estimate around 20 to 25 hours. However, this is a very rough estimation, as I mostly drew it in 30-45mins sessions during lunchbreak at the office, plus 2 longer sessions of a few hours at home.

I didn't bother skewing anything, it would have been barely noticeable! As far as the patterns are concerned, you can load different sets with the button on the right, when you open the window to select them! There's a lot of different presets: stone, nature, fabric, etc (not sure about the english names).

I love it. Great job making it. I know this sound stupid but somtime could you make a tutorial on how to make art like this. Cause I kind of suck and will take any advice possible. But yea..... holy co!!!!! Wonderfull job, much better than I could dream of. Keep up the good work and hope your having fun making it.

I'm not sure about a tutorial. I tried a lot and played around with brushes, mostly used the basic, round one, with pen pressure set to transfer opacity and flux (sorry, I have a French version of photoshop, so I cant say what's the english for it!). I think I need to practice much more before I have legitimacy in making a tutorial
And, finally... keep practising (and having fun doing so, that's the most important!) and you'll end up doing stuff you would have never dreamt of doing
