Such a fantastic looking creature, yet in this case the true oddity is the single red flower in this picture of blue.

omg gorgeous!!!!
how do you make ink look so smooth?
Is it because it's not India ink? I'm getting so frustrated with my ink ... =/

Sorry for the late reply! The key with painting with ink is to not try too hard to control it and overwork it. It helps to paint with pure water the area you want the ink to cover and gradually drop in the ink. Let it do what it wants- the more you try to manipulate how and where the ink dries, the more grainy and stressed it looks.
Black India ink can do this too- but check the bottle. I have the matte version which will not have as smooth of feel as some of the other inks. "Hicarb" is the other version which is more satin. Both are waterproof and that helps too.
If you're really into inks, I would recommend the Waterman brand. They're for fountain pens technically, but are super smooth, incredibly potent, and last forever.
But regardless of brand, the key is to give up control. I'm a control freak so it's taken me awhile to get used to, but the ink does the prettiest things when you leave it be and drop it into shaped water on paper. Hope that helps!
