i think this is a very cohesive piece. the surrounding really complement the character, and having her up against that dark tree not only provides great contrast but also puts something solid and massive in the foreground. This couldn't be any other way than black and white, because it is so expressive of the lack of color and gloom that are associated with the macabre. she's quite the cute little wednesday... really convincing. That blurred cross is my favorite part, i think it's the best detail because it's almost like a wry, ironic smile peeking out at us from the background, contrasting with wednesday's assured atheism.
