This was done for the Draw This Again contest. Here's the original: [link]This one was a unique challenge because, while I'm sure everyone who places will be the ones who picked pictures they did when they were 12 and just starting out, I wanted a challenge: so I picked what had been some of my best work when I started Between Places. Something I still thought looked pretty good, for a comic panel. Something I knew I could outdo, but would take all of my current skills and more to really blow it out of the water and make the effort worthwhile.
10 hours later, one numb thumb, and a seething hate of icicles later... well, this is it, guys. Not only is it rendered better, but I intentionally reflected the character growth, giving Gabriel a darker costume and aging Rease to fit hers. And oh yeah, weapons. This time when they're ambushed they're sure to win.

Ti, this is a beautiful revamp. The original was so good already, but the environment here, the way you made the vampire (I hope I remembered right what he was...!) a mysterious, ominous figure behind... it's just great!

Yup, he's a vampire! He's the part I'm least happy with, I know what I wanted to see but I couldn't find a good reference for how to do it, so well... that's what we got.

Me too. It's given me a new appreciation for myself as an artist, actually; I feel like I've made a concrete improvement even without forcing out pages every other day. Better characters, better environment... yeeaaah.

One of the things I like about you Ti, is that you never take the easy option. This is a fantastic piece of work and I can see how much effort has gone into it, and it is amazing. I also think you're riht that it's harder to really challenge yourself with a piece of work you were poud of and try to upgrade that!

Pffhahahaha. I absolutely take the easy way out sometimes. Mostly it's copy and pasting backgrounds for my comic. Oh yeah, and that thing where I don't ink? I'm absolutely lying through my teeth when I say "it's because it fits my style better", I just hate inking. So much.
But I'm happy with how this came out! I really appreciate your praise.
