Description My third adult Queen Chrysalis! She is a commission for and not for sale.

She's been made with new body and hair patterns. She stands approx. 73cm (29,2") from hoof to the top of the horn and aprox. 54 cm (21,6") from hoof to the top of the head. She is made out of minky and has machine embroidered eyes and spots on her neck. This wime wings contain no wires - they're made out of minky and there is a foam inside so they are very soft.

She has overall 7 holes in her hooves that unfortunately aren't very good visible (same as my previous versions) I tried to find appropriate materials to support them in few stores but in my country there is always a problem to find anything necessary :/Ā  Sewing those tunels took plenty of time.

Anyway I hope that you like my improvements, I think this is my best Chrysalis so far, much more show accurate than previous pattern

This is very, very good, and I would buy if I had money. But I still to this day have never seen a more accurate and detailed Chrysalis, than this one right here: fc05.deviantart.net/fs70/i/201…

Agreed. I hope to get there myself someday. It's a very impressive plush to seek inspiration.

I've learnt everything by myself, I started sewing them over a year ago as hobby and somehow got better skills during this time

You do such fantastic work with Chrysalis!
Just incredibly detailed and accurate!Ā
(And I think you may be the only person who has actually made 3 full size versions of her, too!Ā  Most people are scared of making her even once!Ā  )

calusariAC In reply to DeadParrot22 [2013-12-20 15:17:49 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! Hehe, that's true I made three full sized and three fillies Chrysalis! But the full sized version is still difficult to make, even though I've already obtained some experience with making her. But soon I might have new pretender to be most difficult - full sized Nightmarity, and this one's hair will be extreme challenge to make!

calusariAC In reply to SummerisleDog [2013-12-20 00:26:00 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! That's true, sewing her is challenging but the rest as well Stuffing this slim body is very difficult and takes thrice much time as regular mare; also hand stitching of all parts like mane, horn, ears, etc is complex because of hee low weight and long legs but I can say without exaggeration that she is still one of my most favorite ponies to craft. The results of finished plush always make me feel proud of myself because of her difficulty but I am not able to repeat her very often, I need few months before making another one

NazFX [2013-12-18 23:11:08 +0000 UTC]

Oh and may I ask, how on earth do you sew the holes in her mane/tail?Ā

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

calusariAC In reply to NazFX [2013-12-20 00:20:14 +0000 UTC]

Sure I tried few methods but the simplest came out to look best - when the mane and tail are sewn and turned inside out (to the right side), they are cut down and satin stitched with very very high density of stitches. At first I used sewing the holes from inside but the results weren't very esthetic comparing to this method

Thank you very much I am really proud of this plush; she is the most challenging character that I've made so far; this is my third Chrysalis but still she wasn't simple and easy to make. But soon she may be dethroned as Nightmarity is approaching!

HereInNowhere [2013-12-18 17:03:23 +0000 UTC]

This made my jaw drop!Ā  Between her size and the holes in her hooves, does she have any problems standing up?

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

calusariAC In reply to HereInNowhere [2013-12-20 00:14:09 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! No, she stands perfectly on her own. Of course, due to very very slim tights and places where legs come from the body (lol! ) she is not this stable as regular mare which are like plush figures and need no help to stand, so the legs must be posed in good position, but after this she is very stable.

Have you ever created a tutorial on your techniques, because the work you do is great. I'm not saying show any of your patterns, but just how the workmanship is done.

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

calusariAC In reply to bioworld [2013-12-20 00:09:54 +0000 UTC]

No, I haven't and to be honest most probably I won't. All my techniques are created by me, I was never following any tutorials on plush making or even sewing that's why some of them are used only by me, I supposse. I avoid descriptons about creating process by other plush makers because I like to create something new, without influence (you have no idea how easy is to follow somebody's ideas accidentaly when you read about it then the imagination and results are similar and I want to keep my own style, now for ponies, in future maybe in something else... ) The more I have to fight with some problems and focus on flaws, the better solution I get in the end. I don't want to sound egoistic or non-sharing but I put all my time and ideas into creating my plushies and I want to keep my techinques for myself Of course, if somebody asks about basic things, I never hesistate to help if I can; I saw videos on yt where somebody was making ponies and it was good I guess, so different from my methods but the effects looked nicely. And the patterns - I don't share or sell them but I think that the biggest point in well made product is technique of creation, not just the pattern

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

bioworld In reply to calusariAC [2013-12-20 01:04:22 +0000 UTC]

I see where you are coming from, that technique is one of a kind and part of you. To let the technique out to the whole world would cause the original to be less unique.

I think it's safe to say that this is by far your best Chrysalis, all the detail is just wow, astounding. Especially in the eyes! This is an astounding piece of art and your workmanship and improvements definitely show through, and remind me once again how much I want a Chrysalis from you.

calusariAC In reply to Tory-Kasper [2013-12-19 23:55:36 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much for the comment This one is very close to the ideal (legs, legs, legs!!!!); I couldn't finish her the way I wanted but if I only get necessary material in future, I will provide it to the customer because it's a shame to those tunels to be wasted. I think it'sĀ  only the matter of time, hopefully (if only anyone decides to commission her again because of high price), I will get those for the next one

The eyes are the same as my two previous versions, but funny thing - accidentaly I deleted the embroidery eye pattern from my usb and I had to make the new one; I thought it could look better to add additional green stripe between the darkest and the lightest; I think it really looks better now
