Heh, well, those of you who know me well know that I love birds as much as horses, perhaps even more. One of my old co-workers once said to me "You want to be a bird, don't you?" I annoyed him with my endless prattle about my budgies. Can't help it
Some 20+ years of living with budgies has effected me. Heh, when your budgies think you're a budgie, some other world has definitely been penetrated. Anyhow, I drew this picture of a red parrot sometime around 1996 or 1997 - I was still working at the library and in my teens. Now and then, I would totally make a fluke picture - something that hinted at my talent in ways I seldom duplicated. Done with Laurentian pencil crayons - the cheap kind
on large sized bond paper. The only thing that ruins this picture for me is the cruddy background.

Wow. This picture really caught my eye as I was looking around for parrot pics.
Good colors on the parrot itself, and the reds and oranges on it are mixed quite well. The bird contrasts nicely with the background.
And those feathers....ooo, those large feathers. Nice.

I must give you the most credit in the world for this one, as I can't draw birds for the life of me. The background, odd as it is, seems to draw the picture together for me... I think it was a good idea, actually. I love the extreme amount of detail in the feathers and that uber cute eye. Awwr. Shy parrot!

Hey, this is awesome! I love the color and detail. Beautiful.
My bird thinks I'm a budgie, too. When she calls, I answer, or she'll fly to find me. We even bathe together. I usually have ultra-close relations with pets because I act like their species and try to communicate on their level, leaving them to believe I am one of them, and people to thinking I'm absolutely crazy.

Join the crazy club! I can tell similar stories. Man...things like when Paullie and Buddy were sitting on my head and they started fighting, or when Jack will run up my shoulder. Birds are the animal for me, even as much as I love horses. When I moved out of my parents, I couldn't figure out what was wrong with me, then I realized I missed my flock.

When I read the description, then looked at the picture, I was like, "HEY! It's Calze as a parrot!" xD. I think I got the impression of you being shy as a bird, or something. My mind is random. o.O;

Yeah, I'm not sure what the heck I was thinking...even if I had left it blank or a solid, that would have been so much better! This picture was such a fluke...when I try to color these days, usually it comes out crap...but this, I dunno...what cosmic hand was guiding me that day.
