I know what you're thinking -- "I thought Aelon was a dude?" And you'd be right, he is. But he is also a she.

Aelon's species, the Zerophinites, are hermaphromorphic -- that is, they are hermaphrodites who can shift (aka morph) their appearance between male and female. Zerophinites are born primarily one gender and develop their morphing abilities with the onset of sexual maturity (or puberty, if you prefer). Aelon is a primary male, and this is his female appearance. (Aelon is not a junior officer, but I did not want both pictures of him/her in the main Enterprise gallery.)

This original species is loosely based on a concept from the 2005 independent film Zerophilia.
