Gex entered the mascot fray in the 90's, though a bit late he was well received and gained some popularity that helped him get three games. Having a more "witty" kind of personality and a lore based in popular television and movie tropes and fine gameplay, made him more likeable than some other mascots, but the arduous competition in the 3D platforming a diminishing fanbase and the rise of other less competitive genres made his third game the last. Unlike bubsy, he didn't have some infamy to keep him alive and so faded into history. I do believe there is still some Gex fans out there who really enjoyed his games and would love to see him return, who knows, with the constant rise of nostalgia remakes he might make a comeback.
