‘Are you ready to abandon all you’ve worked for, all you’ve earned, your rank, your reputation?’ Karofsky gives a vague motion of his hand down at the remnants of Kurt’s Navy uniform, devoid of all the grand blue and gold, and left only with his undershirt and black waistcoat. Dave notes that his cravat is still spotless.

‘I’ve already lost all of that.’ Kurt doesn’t sound mournful, but nonchalant.

‘And what about your morals? You understand that the life of a pirate is one of thieving, rape, pillage…all that kind of crime. You ready to have that on your conscience?’

Kurt’s face breaks into a mysterious smile and he raises an eyebrow, ‘Right now pillage is the least of my issues as far as morals are concerned.’

‘And you do know we’re incredibly unclean?’ Dave knows exactly what impact this will have on Kurt, but he tries not to look cheeky.

He’s answered with a sigh: now Kurt sounds mournful.‘…I’ll live with it. What exactly will I be doing on this crew?’

‘You’ll be the first mate.’ He says it like it’s a grand award; sure, it is in a way, but considering how close Kurt had been to that big promotion, it feels more like a consolation prize.

‘And how big is this crew so far?’ Kurt asks, smirking again. Dave looks away, coughing slightly.

‘Well, so far there’s me, Azimio,’ a pause ‘…and you.’

‘Three people.’ Kurt sounds incredulous.

‘Yes.’ Dave admits, grinning. Kurt sees he has a gold tooth and wonders if he’s going to have to invest in one if he’s to take on this lifestyle.

‘…it’s better than two.’ He takes a moment to think, then stares up at Dave, and puts on the giant feathered hat he’s holding. ‘I suppose I have no other alternatives right now, Mr. Karofsky.’

‘Well, then.’ Dave clears his throat. ‘Welcome to the Titan, Mr. Hummel.’
