I'm surprised nobody ever looks at the Advance series or Pocket Adventure to remake in the genesis style. The Adv series is more fit for this type of stuff. I'd honestly rather see a fangame remake one of the SA games in a genesis style similar to the Sonic 4 Genesis stuff. Especially since these games had excellent ideas, they just need changes to the level design, special stage design, and getting to those special stages (2 and 3). Also each character in this received a change to better fit Sonic 1.
