This is very interesting. I think that you should try to make this same image with straight photography. It would be really interesting to have the background painted on a wall and then use peices of black paper or cardboard for the shadows! Great job, really nice image!

I want to be drawn into the tree, and what lies on the branches, but my eye keeps directing me towards the top left hand corner.

Hmm... the sihouette provides a fairly good contrast to the beautifully blue night sky. However, the sihouette of the branches of tree seems to clash with the background in terms of style, but it seems essential for the expression of style.
