!SPOILERS IF YOU'RE NOT CAUGHT UP WITH MANGA!
"Sabo, what are you doing?" you asked, peering over his shoulder.
"Writing a letter to Dragon-san about the situation on our side," he answered.
You sighed as you tried to decipher the words on the paper. You were ashamed of it, but you couldn't read or write. You joined the Revolutionary Army at a young age, barely any education. No one could stop and teach a child their ABC's in the midst of fighting against the World Government.
You tried to teach yourself by reading newspapers, but your efforts were useless, seeing that you had to train everyday and help rookies. When there was important information in letters, you had to shamefully ask one of your trusted comrades to read it out loud to you.
"What's wrong?" asked Sabo.
"Nothing," you muttered, sitting in your chair.
"It's not nothing if it's bothering you, [Name]."
"Hn."
Sabo frowned at your dejected state.
"Come on, tell me," he persisted, leaning back on his chair.
"No," you stubbornly said.
"Don't make me tickle you."
"Both of us know I'll break your goddamn hand, Sabo."
"...Okay, I won't tickle you."
Sabo sighed. He nudged you with his elbow.
"I'll buy you ramen."
Your head shot up.
"You promise?"
"Promise."
"SWEAR ON IT."
"I swear."
You sighed and nervously fidgeted.
"I...don't know how to read or write."
Sabo stared at you.
"Are you gonna laugh at me?"
"What? No. That's all?"
"What do you mean "that's all?""
"I mean, that's not really a big deal."
"It isn't?"
"It's pretty easy to learn since you already know how to speak and form words."
"Oh."
You felt a big weight lift off your shoulders at the sound of this. Usually people laughed at you when you admitted you had no idea how to read or write a single letter. Sabo hummed.
"I could teach you," Sabo offered.
"Really?!" you shot up in your seat.
"Yeah, when we have free days," he said, going back to writing his letter.
"You mean it, right?!" you said, bouncing excitedly in your seat.
"It wouldn't be too much of a problem, so uh, yeah," he said.
"YAY!" you said, tackling Sabo in his seat, hugging him.
In the process of that, however, you toppled over his ink bottle over and spilled it all over his letter.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry, I'll clean it up!"
"It's fine," Sabo reassured. "I'll rewrite it."
"Are you sure? I mean, you wrote a lot!" you asked, panicked.
"I'm sure, [Name], calm down," Sabo laughed. "Besides, I can teach you letters and words while writing my letter."
You smiled happily.
"Alrighty then, Sabo-sensei~."
"...Don't ever say that again."
"Yes sir."

" don't ever say that again" Β it's weird. Β my family is watching Tsubasa, and Kurogane has the same English voice actor as zoro. Β it's so weird.. Β but i love Sabo. Β my uncle doesn't know he's alive, so my sister and and i have to refer to him simply as "S" Β
