Annfrid is a fairly sociable person, enjoys company and is skilled in the art of making friends. She's open-hearted and outgoing at first glance, which makes her seem quite sympathetic. She's also a ruthless charmer making compliments and even fawning. She knows what others like to hear. Working hard for her goals and dreams doesn't bother her and she puts a lot of effort and time into her career, even if she has to start from the bottom. She is devoted to her job and is the epitome of a diligent worker. What a lot of people appreciate about Annfrid is her independence. She's nobody to bug others about her problems and rather does things on her own, but if asked for help, she'll gladly lend a hand most of the time.

However, appearances can be deceiving. Annfrid is quite arrogant and thinks of herself very highly. She compares everybody to herself and has high standards regarding her surroundings. You notice her arrogance in the way she carries herself, speaks and acts: using big and complicated words or just parading by with her nose up high. She's also quite the jealous type and can be very hostile towards a person she envies. It may just be about insignificant things like clothes or jewelry, but can go as far as her being very possessive of people and being upset about them having closer bonds with others. In general her jealousy is just part of her selfishness. She likes to have the prettiest, nicest things for herself and doesn't like sharing anything. After all Annfrid is also some parts Machiavellian. To achieve whatever she wants, she might use inappropriate methods like lying and is unexpectedly cunning, deceitful and immoral.

-Brother announced recent engagement, causing her to try sabotaging his relationship to not lose him
-Got into a fight with him about said engagement, which ended up with her storming out of their apartment
-Found the circus and made the final decision to stay and leave behind the people who abandoned her]

Annfrid was the second child of a Swedish middle class family, which resided in Gothenburg. Her father was a doctor, her mother a simple housewife, but the key character in her life was her brother Arvid, older by 5 years. Her childhood was fairly normal, carefree and spoilt by her parents. However, the family was then confronted with Annfrid's mother suffering from schizophrenia. It was the first time Annfrid wasn't treated like a precious kid anymore, and soon she realized it was already time to grow up and take her mother's spot in the household. She became angry at the situation and how everybody expected her to act mature about it, but was also mad at her mother for abandoning them like that. The young girl didn't want to lose her own teenage years to such a stroke of fate, but had to give in eventually.

Her father distanced himself from his kids and seemingly found a new love long ago. He wouldn't come home for days, and only paid the bills and food. When Annfrid turned 14, he sent their mother off into a mental institution. Since then neither of the siblings heard a word from her, but secretly Annfrid was glad that her mother was gone since she didn't have to take care of her on her own anymore. Arvid, 19 at that time, started working, while Annfrid took care of the household and learnt how to manage her life. Soon their father left them completely, which forced the two of them to move to a smaller apartment and Annfrid to become dependent on her brother. Hearing that her father found a new wife upset her extremely and she felt betrayed, replaced and abandoned again. The loss of both of her parents caused her to be extremely clingy and possessive of her brother. Since he was her rock and emotional support throughout all this time, she didn't plan on giving up on him too.

3 years later her brother revealed his engagement with his boss's daughter, much to Annfrid's distress. She wanted to make sure that no other woman would be able to take another man from her life, even if it meant acting immorally and against her brother's will, but it was all for her own sake. Every time she would meet his soon-to-be wife she was extremely hostile, practically bullying her. She tried to sabotage their relationship many times with different methods, such as writing fake love letters or telling lies about seeing his girlfriend with another man.

Arvid was faced with two options: Letting his fiancee go or distancing himself from his sister. Eventually he decided that he couldn't stay with Annfrid forever, and both of them needed to have their own lives. He told her that he would move to his fiancee's home, but that he would still provide for Annfrid. She threw an extreme fit and raged all over the place, even hitting him with a feather duster. At the end, in her temper, she bolted out of their apartment.

After a long walk to calm herself down, she caught a glimpse of something, which she went to check out. That was when she found the Cirque des Reves. She was immediately stunned by the looks of it and wandered around the wondrous place. In this place, she felt as if everything would be alright, not only temporarily. After a long night spent in figurative heaven, she made the decision to stay. Maybe it was the best solution. It would certainly take the responsibility her brother had over her away. So with nothing but the clothes she had on and the feather duster she still had in her hand, she decided to start a new life in the circus.

- Yes. Yes that is the feather duster she hit her brother with. She somehow is emotionally attached to that old, cheap thing and still uses it for work
- When extremely angry she still likes to "discipline" people with her duster
- Her brother and Annfrid got back in contact, after she wrote a letter explaining the situation. Since then they've been mailing each other regularly. It seems like she has forgiven him, though still a little upset when the subject is brought up
- She decided to be a caretaker, since she didn't really have any qualities, other than being a good housewife and cleaner
- She isn't the smartest and was never exceptionially good at school
- She hates how foreigners pronounce her name with the second part sounding like "Fried" or "Fred", so she keeps telling people to simply call her "Ann"
- She has a thing for gambling, but is extremely bad at it
- She has a common Norwegian name, since her mother originated from Norway
- She hates hands and feet, especially sweaty ones. She usually wears gloves, so she can still shake hands and stuff, but no touching her face, that's a big nono and you might get disciplined
