Description ... and a few episodes of Intervention is what produced this. We were learning wet wash and dry wash techinque last week, and this was our homework. I'm trying to learn to control my warms and cools more... I'm a lot happier with this than the rose I did earlier.

My only problem is the paper I used was absolutely AWFUL. No wonder it was so cheap... after a coat of water, the paper would start forming little balls and ruining my work It kinda worked out as the texture of the ground as you can see, but I would have been super pissed if I did a person on this!

The reference photo I used:

Hm, looking at this, it occurs to me that I should have used reference, too. Oh well. You really captured the lighting perfectly with the glow and the radiating shadows! I agree that the cool colors could be altered, but the warm colors are just right. Your paintings are turning out much better than my own sad attempts. Keep at it!

I hope you don't mind if I suggest letting the leaves of the trees overlap the trunks at some points to keep the trunks from jumping forward. This coupled with bits of trunk/branches peeking out from the leaves helps to complete the effect. Admittedly, this is harder to accomplish with island wetwash.

Thanks for the suggestion! Yeah I realized I forgot to do the branches XD If you look reaaaaally closely at the second tree from the left, you can see a faint attempt at branches.... I thought I could paint my way around those leaves, but it wasn't working so I just wiped it off XD

He introduced "layering" this week, so I'm thinking that using that technique would help me out a lot more.
And I'm sure your paintings were awesome. I can't imagine you sucking at any medium!

Btw, you probably know already but I added into another art class. I thought it was gonna be easy, but mannnn it's tough. It's a perspective boot camp right now, and I'm getting my butt kicked. Hahaha

I appreciate your confidence, but I must admit that I rushed through most of my assignments. It was a very busy semester.

So, you're taking three art classes!? That's pretty tough, although you probably know that already. Still, I wish you the best in this. Your ability to finish these things will definitely come in handy!

Pfft at least you DID your assignments... haha. I'm missing a few... good thing I changed my grade to pass/no pass!

I was taking three art classes before, I just switched from Miss G's to another one. But yeah, it's definitely more of a challenge because we actually have homework, and since it's a small class, the teacher has no problem asking you for it every day XD

Actually I didn't... haha. Yes, I had no space at home to paint so I had many assignments left undone. I rushed through as many as I could on the last day, but I ran out of time and resources.

So, what is this art class anyway?

I like the vibrant glow in this picture, as if something is behind the trees, nice shadowing too
