How do you the the heart and the rosette so ''thick''?

Rosette? You mean the leopard pattern? I just drew those with pink and black gel.
The heart is made from builder gel. I just did the design, and then plopped a huge drop of gel on top it and let it harden under a UV light. You can get the same effect with Acrylic though. Just take clear acrylic, plop it on top, and let it dry. Then apply top coat

Actually if you cover the decorations with gel so that it's smooth and there aren;t any edges sticking out, it's not too bad. You forget that it's there.
