so i got all turnt up about mindflyers today and read the entirity of the Illithiad again...And then remembered that part that pointed out that mindflayers can 'talk' instead of just using telepathy if they shove a tentacle down their throats and use it as a tongue.
tbh Christoph really isn't great at being a wiggly boy
If he was smarter he would have thought to use his one little nub tentacle instead of one of his Bad Dragon XXL sized ones. not gonna lie, i fucking love drawing jared in this simple style, his fucking face with his lil' bean eyes makes me die, it's great :,)

nah it's their own mouth, LMAO. Lore-wise, I guess Illithids can't talk normally because they have horrible lamprey mouths and no vocal cords, but if they put a tentacle down their own throats they can manipulate it like a tongue to 'speak' should their telepathy give out or something.
