Queen of the Belgic Atrebartes tribe, she was first one of Caesar's firm allies during the Gallic wars, and even served as an envoy to the Britons during the the Roman invasions (she even got taken hostage!)But when Vercingetorix launched her revolt against the Romans, Commius promptly turned against the Romans and was a staunch and bitter opponent. Finally when it was clear the war was lost, Commius agreed to peace, but went into voluntary exile to Britain, as she had sworn to "never see a Roman again."
