Dude... just amazing picture. Looks like a hell of a lot of fun.
I have the craziest love for the oldies. Sure now there's fly-by-wire, but nothing that can replace that feeling of analog gauges and VFR flying.

Thank you so much for that honest reply. I love my work and know that each time I fly someone somewhere, it is special to them. Some are scared like you...but I try to meet them all and smile to let them know I'll watch over them.

I have no idea why so many people like this self-portrait...it's fav'd more than any other.
Shot with an interval timer so I would have no idea when the shutter would trip.

When I'm up here, in this vantage point, I can see to the limit of the horizon what's happening where all at once.
Here I can sit and wait in orbiting, lazy circles like a hawk and wait for my friends to join me or see a place that can't be seen from the road to set down in for a bit.
Here, there are no roads but all roads. There is no 'right' way to go from here to there...I can go as I wish.
Here I am in control, comfortable, free. I wrap these wings around me and forget about the worries of the world for a while and I become a watcher of all things.
From here, I can see the footprints of glaciers long moved north. I see how the Earth has shrugged or smiled a wrinkled valley into being before I was born.
From here, I see where the future is heading, our expanding rivers of concrete.
I can feel a warming of the wind and know that LIFT is imminent. I can smell rain a long ways off, I can read the sky like a map of past and future rolled together and tucked into my pocket.
This is where I know I am alive. I know what I was born to do.

I like it because it shows you doing what you love.
The expression on your face is relaxed and you're enjoying the flight.
The unique angle that one doesn't often see, especially with all of these modern airliners.
The soft colours without much contrast suggests softness, gliding, slipping gracefully through the air.
Even though you didn't know when the shutter would trip, it's still a great picture. Many great images are accidents, taken without much thought, taken without all of the rubbish technicality.

Now that I look at it with that in mind, I see what you're saying. The thing that throws me is that it's a more photo-journalistic piece than my normal work.
I rarely take anything that even closely resembles a snapshot. (there are a couple in my gallery that were taken for magazines, but I like them enough to add them to the ranks)

Yeah, it's true that it's more photo-journalistic. Maybe that's why people like it ... it's not trying to be artful or wonderful, but just showing things as they are.
