Your welcome, and not easy in the least, have had this exact discussion with other friends how lovecraft monsters are hard to envision physically ,guess it's because he leaves most details to the imagination, in this case it's nothing but a horrible color that isn't natural to this earrh

The funny thing is, is that he really does give pretty good descriptions, and we still can't envision it!

I've been on a reading binge of H.P. Lovecraft, his followers and those who influenced them. I have insomnia most nights, so I end up doing a lot of reading. Oddly, I can read any number of horrific stories and have nary a nightmare though I recall, decades ago, having a Lovecraftian nightmare that haunted me throughout the next day. I was never certain why I was affected that one time.
I've been doing some dabbling in digital art, mainly word-based. HPL can definitely embed himself in one's mind!
So, naturally, I have to add this to my SCI FI AND HORROR folder! He definitely melds those genres.

I don't think I've ever really had a horrible nightmare that woke me up or read anything or saw any movies that gave me nightmares.
I did sleep with my blanket up around my neck for years and years after seeing the original House of Dark Shadows movie in 1970. LOL!

OH, MAN! ONE OF MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE STORIES! Too bad Lovecraft was such a racist... But he did write astonishingly good fantasy/horror; and he even wrote a really good piece on the mechanics of writing itself:

He wasn't as much a racist, as he was a xenophobe.

I don't know... The racial color that creeped into his fictional writings *could* be explained away as authorly Zeitgeist; but some of his non-fiction personal letters show a down-right ugly side to his nature. Sad; but no one is perfect, especially artists and writers.

It's probably been around 40 years or so since I've read his correspondences, I barely remember them!

Don't ruin your blissful forgetfulness. Some of his letters are 'two girls & a cup' level eye bleach material. Guess that's why they don't give his bust as a World Fantasy award any more.
Oh well; we'll always have Cthulhu to keep us warm...
