Personality:
Harriet has the mind of an inexperienced aspiring entrepreneur, seeing a collaborative opportunity in every interaction she makes. In a way, that makes her easy to talk to, even though her motives can be questionable. She’s clever, suave and has a radiant yet explosive personality, willing to take leadership in situations where needed and bringing life to any scene (even the quiet business scene…). She's a quick thinker and usually spitballs ideas like it's no big deal, but that doesn't always mean her ideas are well thought through or even effective. It also can't be helped that she's mostly self-interested, trying to turn even the kindest of friendship offers into a business partnership to make gain. She’s also somewhat mischievous and childish, finding humor in the misfortunes of others. Probably her worst trait is her greed. She’s willing to do almost anything when money is thrown on the table. She’s not very generous. So, unless you’re a close friend, don’t expect her to help you without some form of payment.

History:

Born into a world that wanted to shut her down, Harriet had the ideology that she could be anything she wanted to be… it so happened to be that everything she wanted to be was out of her reach at the time. Once she wanted to be a magician. Another point, an actor. She even considered running away with the circus. Maybe it was one too many cartoons. Maybe it was the pictures of her late father, the magician. Maybe it was the encouragement of her childhood friend. Although being raised by her less than showy uncle wasn’t what she hoped for in life, she too aspired a stage for herself. These dreams began to plummet once her grades started dipping. Her uncle blamed her passion for the arts and took her out of theatre, the love of her life. She was then isolated from her peers and forced to focus on her studies, which she absolutely hated. Eventually, though, clicking through the calculations and the quiet of desk work became… enjoyable? It wasn’t her passion, but she came to accept it as something she was good at and excelled beautifully through her classes from then on. Her uncle pushed her through college to pursue the business field since, in his opinion, there was more opportunity for her there. Deep down her heart still craved the stage, and through her college years this desire became harder and harder to ignore. It came to a point where, after watching student shows to support their efforts, she’d cry herself to sleep in jealousy of those who were lucky enough to have followed through with their dreams. Out of sheer impulse, she decided to drop out of college (to her uncle’s utter dismay) and ran away to start on her own in showbusiness. She tried a little bit of everything: performing alone, performing with a troupe, the streets, the circus, the stage. It was a lot harder to get on her feet than she imagined (unable to keep up with the more experienced actors and performers), and she blamed the lack of training and experience from being taken out of her classes so early on. Several years of ups and downs passed... some years where she was doing well, and others where she was on the brink of starvation (blame her need to gamble during those times). It seemed, even though it was her passion, she didn’t find anything stable or long lasting to keep her afoot, and she realized that she was honestly getting tired of not knowing if she'd be able to eat or not each day. Looking back into her old credentials from high school and college (and a few online courses as refreshers), she saw there was a need for more business workers in Dulcet Laeta. She didn't throw her showbusiness dreams away quite yet, but perhaps she’d have a better chance at getting on her feet over there. It’s the most important place in all of Tanim! Also, free housing. That’s always a plus...
