What's the problem with it? Its not like they're required to be part of the small percentage of over-zealous christians that ruin the planet alongside the extremist [insert any other religion here] people.

I don't know what's worse. That the over-zealous people in my religion are the ones that are elected to run everything and be the voice of our faith, or the fact that everyone uses those extremists as a reason to say Christians are all people-hating rights-stripping pricks (And let's not even GET into Islam). <_<
Anyway, assuming I understand your comment right, I appreciate your honest objectivity, as even I found myself wondering about the cross's relevance in that universe (I reckon I should also question its general appropriateness, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
And yes, this was a very touching, if simple and (donthurtme) unoriginal premise.

I guess they buried her there because she was a homeless orphan who had no other friends or acquaintances because her wings were crippled due to the Pegasus Cancer that would have killed her anyway, except it wouldn't have because she had just found the winning lottery ticket which would have paid for that life-saving wing transplant operation and she was on her way to cash it in when Dash stopped by and offered to give her a lift and she accepted because it was her lifelong dream to see Cloudsdale before she died, only she was hit by a stray lightning bolt from Derpy and Dash dropped her just before it was in sight and it's a shame because Scoots was going to sign those insurance papers as soon as she got back and her Cutie Mark was about to appear and she was two weeks away from retirement and that millionaire Wonderbolt was going to ask for her hoof in marriage and she landed on top of a pile of buried treasure and she missed the trampoline by THIS MUCH.
I'm sorry. Seriously though, it's really cute and sad.
