Because Scootaloo's life is inherently sad.
She's (apparently) either an orphan or her parents are absent.
She's got underdeveloped wings and may never fly.
She's one of the few in her age group without a cutie mark.
Honestly, I picture her life a la the comic (I forget where) that depicts her living in the CMC clubhouse because she has no home. The main reason I like Scoot so much is because of what I picture her as going through.
I hope Hasbro uses this fandom idea. It would be a PERFECT time for them to work in a good message about child abuse, poverty, physical disabilities, etc.

I hear you on that, though it's a touchy subject (I've asked more than a few of the staff about it) that's why I draw happy pictures, if she's an orphan, then let's get her adopted. Most seem to like my "Best Day Ever" pic.
