When I saw the first panel, I said "oh dear" out loud.
See, if Scootaloo had actually taken the time to learn to fly, that wouldn't have happened. The butterflies can't break your fall every time.

I can't help but suspect that Dash is sure that since she was able to save Rarity at the Best Young Flier's competition, she should have been able to save Scoots. That she could have flown faster. That Scoots would be alive, if only she had wanted hard enough to save her. One might assume that the flashback panel shows her being distinctly off-form for an optimally quick dive not because that's what happened, but because after so much time questioning if she could have done better, that's what she remembers.
That's a heavy burden to bear.

Scoots has a cross as a grave marker, which is a Christian thing.
Makes me wonder what the canon pony grave markers would be. Maybe Celestia's sun?

It was meant as joke that she couldnt fly. It wasnt trying to devalue her or trying to imply she had any disability or conditions.
