Great tension. I've been caught in the middle of this type of conversation many times. You capture the dynamic perfectly.

Maybe not true face of Carmella, but definitly she showed uglier one.
And I don't see problem with Rex's english.
But assasination? What?!

His English is actually pretty good. He's making the kinds of grammatical mistakes a non-native speaker would but he's easy to understand.
Yeah, that assassination thing is odd.

It seems like Corelle is catching on that somethings fishy here. That or that one woman is someone she will not get along with well.

Corelle's catching on to a lot of things. She's far from unobservant but she's also 16 years old and hasn't spent much time outside of Flint. Much of this is completely new to her so what you or I would see as big red flags are new territory.

I had a very similar issue when I got out of High school and into College. I'm very socially phobic and had never been made to do something completely alone. My first stint in college ended in disaster, stress, and realizing I was a very terrible grown up. The counselors at my college weren't very good and picked up on me having no idea. So I see a lot of short cuts they took now that I'm older and wiser.

That's nothing. In my first year of Master's school I married a literal psychopath because I didn't know how to recognize one. Turns out they are nothing like on TV.

They are not at all. It's scary how well some people can hide their natures until you're trapped.

The most realistic interpretation of a psychopath I've seen in the media was Christoph Waltz's character in "Big Eyes". He never physically hurt anyone, but he didn't have to. He was FAR from being one of those "evil geniuses" that psychopaths are often thought to be - this guy was pretty stupid (he couldn't tell the difference between oil and acrylic despite being surrounded by painters for years). But he was still successful in destroying the lives of at least four people because it was profitable for him. He didn't care that they were suffering, he was making money.

I used to manage a group online. One guy came in who had already been banned once. I was on edge, no one else was. He seemed to see that I saw through him. As soon as he got a higher spot than me, he'd try to strong arm me into things he wanted to do. The worst part of it all is I can phrase things strangely, and I'm socially phobic. It's hard for me to understand things and I'm easily overwhelmed when pushed hard enough. He'd tell people one thing, and tell me the same thing in a different way so I'd freak out. Show them how I responded and made me look crazy. I lost my reputation, my credibility, and people thought I was just mad and unfit to lead. He did get fired for sexually harassing other women (Oddly he never sexually harassed me, just spent his time destroying me).
In the end even if he was removed, I never was able to gain back the way people had treated me before, I wasn't given credit and people felt I needed to be babysat and watched. I lost my love and passion for helping that group and over a painful year I broke away from them and haven't looked back. The memories before then is good, but they're all tainted with the year of abuse. If I had stood down, he'd have targeted my entire portion of the group and dismantle them completely. To this day I'm still finding things he did behind my back and it's been three years. He has no remorse and claims I shouldn't be so deeply affected. I'm sure he also blames me for getting banned in his mind wrongly. I was just supposed to be a step to climb up to get power and let myself be thrown away like a good pawn.
I'm terrified of psychopaths and sociopaths. Growing up in a home where I was mentally abused and yelled at, I'm apparently giving off a vibe they notice and I've been trying to figure out what it is so I can train myself out of it. Re-victimization is a bitch.

Jesus. I'm sorry you went through that.
I hope you learned how to recognize people like him and strike them down before they gain any kind of footing.
I learned. If you haven't, here's the trick:
Think about them like snipers. They're hidden so that they can pick away at the people who don't even know there's danger.
What are snipers afraid of? Getting discovered.
If someone snipes you or someone you know (you should be able to recognize the tell-tale signs after what you've been through) confront them, publicly if possible. Don't let them squirm away, just keep pointing out the truth, say what they are doing to the letter, draw from previous posts and statements, and don't stop until it becomes very clear that they realize you are on to them and won't get away with being assholes.
Don't accept an initial apology. Keep going at least one more dialogue round so that they know you are goddamn serious and possibly someone who is just as dominating as they are (this doesn't have to be true. The sniper just have to suspect it).
I would suggest getting a copy of the book "Dealing with people you can't stand". There's a whole chapter on this where I got the sniper metaphor from.

I will look into that. At this point it's not very often they go under my radar. Even if my friends won't listen sometimes. That book still sounds useful. It's how I view them too. You have to make them know you know what they are, so they don't have the room to maneuver anymore.

I wonder if she's going to insult Corelle next. Quen, Viktor and Rex have had their turn, and Ian the brush-off.
What a lovely demonstration of how to win friends and influence people! Thanks, Carmella, that's just what everybody needs after the Vancouver Thrift Crew! You've got to wonder if she is trying to pick a fight, for some mysterious reason, or genuinely thinks that this is the best way to get agreement?

I think someone needs a "What's really going on? Are you okay?" That, or cake and tea and a notepad for talking feelings.
The way Carmella is burning every single bridge she comes to is a pretty big rub that she is already emotionally unhinged. Maybe something is really off in her life, or maybe she's having that time of the month. For all I know, she could just be high on the wrong medication .
Either way, something deeper is going on with her, and she needs to be confronted about it before she says something she'll REALLY regret later.

I have to say since I've been living in the states I don't think I know anyone who is bilingual. . . (most people I knew in Canada who were bilingual were immigrants (Polish is a fun language o_o))
The most I've ever managed to learn and retain is how to say "I don't speak this language" in French, Spanish, Polish and Russian.

You should see Europe. Majority of people is ALMOST or attempted bilingual. Not by birth, by learning.
Except of Brits and Russians.

My former employers in Canada were from Israel and one of my coworkers was Polish and I have to say I have such mad respect for them because they're completely fluent and all I can say are a few phrases. I have to say North America has definitely suffered due to being mainly English speaking. Even if I had retained what I had learned from French class in school I never got the chance to practice it so it would have faded eventually. Even my native Canadian coworker only spoke English because of the residential schools trying to wipe out the aboriginal languages.
