Cindy turned in the alley using it as a shortcut to her house a block over. She didn't notice the shadowy figures hiding in the darkness or the gleaming red eyes. Well, not until it was too late. The cat mutant screamed as she was rammed from the side sending her flying on to her back and before she could even move she pinned to the ground. Her attacker, or more really her attackers stared down at her with hungry red eyes. Cindy caught sight of gleaming fangs as they growled down at her. Cindy put two and two together and her brain supplied. Vampires.
The monstrous beings had been on the rise lately she should have known better to go out at dark alone. The vampire that was pinning her, a large lion mutant, leaned closer and sniffed her. " Good blood, Healthy blood. We feast tonight."

Cindy's breath caught in her throat as her sensitive nose caught the rancid odor of decay on the vampire's breath. The lion vampire grinned down at her as he lifted her head and prepared to sink his fangs into her neck, and the life-giving artery that resided there. The vampire's fangs doubled in length, and his red eyes seemed to smolder, but then he was just... gone. Just gone.
Cindy sat up pulling her knees and tail to her chest. Her pale blue eyes bounced around the alley as she watched a black cloaked figure stab through the vampires with a sword.  " Get him!" Ordered a dark-haired human vampire, charging at the figure.
The figure cocked his head to the side watching the last of the vampires charge toward him. Then with quick sharp movements, he dispatched the remaining vampires. Then he straightened up, calmly wiping the bloody sword clean on one of the vampire corpses." You ok, ma'am?" The figure asked gently.
Cindy couldn't get her voice to work, so instead, she just nodded. The figure finally turned toward her and Cindy caught sight of dark navy blue eyes framed by a royal blue mask. The figure stepped closer toward Cindy, he gently pulled her to her feet and steadied her." Thank, you." Cindy finally squeaked out.
Her savior smiled, a small smile nodded and then took off into the night. Cindy stumbled home and was greeted by her family. She told her story and no one believed her, stories about people fighting vampires unbelievable. But more accounts began coming out, stories of near death attacks from vampires thwarted by an unknown vigilante. nd reports of mass vampire deaths. The media named the new found hero, The Vampire Hunter. He became the main topic in the media, some saw him as a hero others as a threat to society, but to the vampires, he was a nightmare. The only thing they could truly be afraid of.
