Indeed old boy, sometimes I hate to admit I miss the old Cold War days. When you could tell friend from foe. As the world balanced on that knifes edge. Quantity does not always beat quality my friend, Desert Storm proved thatm however the issue really becomes, who can show up to the fight with the most. Logistics is the real problem with holding western Europe, NATO supplies have to come from miles away across a large ocean. Warsaw pact supplies are literally only a few miles behind the lines, and can be rushed to them via rail networks. I do not disagree too much on the escalation of hostilities from conventional to nuclear weapons only because both sides would be under incredible pressure to use said weapons at a crisis point. Yes it would be a very awfull from day one, conventional weapons alone would make it miserable to fight in, add NBC category and the nightmare manifest itself. Lucky for both you and me the Cold War ended with a whimper, and not the bang everyone expected.

Not quite a Mig 25, it's a redesign of the Mig 25 for a project that is in the works. I call the aircraft the Mig 26 Fox Hunter, a Vtol interceptor with the purpose of using small open patches ground to take off from in the event of a war. The theory being that runways on day one of a war will obviously be a big target. In an effort to maintain an effective air defence these planes would be dispurst all over Russia to incept NATO bombers. The setting for this is an alternate world were nuclear power is not just a weapon, but also a mean of propulsion. The idea comes from the Atom punk genre.

Traditionally Russian Military even in the Soviet era women actually held rank that were rather high. In fact many a female officer was made during the great patriotic war, also known a World War 2.

That is a commendable belief, war is a horrific act of violence. I do agree war is a man's job, and a man's responsibility. But I also believe that any person can be a soldier provided they meet the standards, and no corners were cut.
