Description
Full View~Did this on my Tokyo Trip and I'm pretty proud of it. Could have done better, but for the amount of time I had to do it, I think it turned out pretty good.
We were doing this contest to win two of Hiroki Mafuyu's prints, and I ALMOST WON, DARNIT. I came in SECOND. Augh. Soclose. D; I won one of the books that Hiroki illustrated the cover of, so all was not lost.
The contest was basically:
"GO TO THE IMPERIAL PALACE AND THEN CREATE A PICTURE WITH THAT AS THE INSPIRATION."
There was so much to draw inspiration from, there. I decided to use the color of the changing leaves and then one of the little statues I found in the garden. While I was there, I ran into a little girl, and she was freakingadorable, so I included her, as well.
I'm not entirely sure what the story is. I just let the image flow onto the mat board without thinking about it too much. xD
But here's my initial impression:
A little girl is playing hide and go seek in the gardens and falls asleep, while waiting to be found. While she's sleeping, a few spirits come out to "play".
But again, there's a lot of story here for y'all to mess with. I'd love to hear what you guys come up with! Type it out in the comments if you want, it doesn't have to be more than a few sentences.
Done on mat board with pen and ink, watercolor, and colored pencil. App. 7 hours.

I love the warm colors... so nice. It's really a great contrast against the ghosts! Usually ghosts are near dark/blue colors. Your works always have a nice 'completed' look to them. <3

Gaw, you're such a sweetie, thank you! I almost gave up towards the end of working on this, but I'm glad I stuck with it and saw it through.

I used this travel set called Vacance by Pentel. It was surprisingly good quality.
And thank you!

I really dislike that you put "Play" in quotes.
It adds a creeper element to the beautiful art.
but like I said, the ART is beautiful and I am really enjoying the warmth of the piece

Charming picture, I like how one of the spirits is toying with her hair and the other's got her shoe... It's really cute.
