In the Nintendo Cinematic Universe fanfiction project I'm now taking a vacation from due to creative differences, "the Jumpman" is the alias of Mario and Luigi's papa, whose birth name is never revealed (keeping in tune with the ambiguous and underdeveloped nature of the Bros.' parents in the games) and who was famous for rescuing Mayor Pauline's mother, also named Pauline, from a gorilla (Donkey Kong's grandpa, now Cranky).
