Curious: eager to know or learn something

Little-or not so little now- Ryewhisker is a quick learner who just so happens to be able to pick up in things fast, especially if they're something he perceives as important (and almost everything is important if he wants to be a good warrior and make his whole family proud). Because of this, he's always eager to know more. Sometimes, it means he sticks his nose where it might not belong, and he doesn't like being told all that much that he's doesn't need to know something. Ryewhisker will listen to anything and do anything as long as there's a chance he'll learn something new; this means that he's always on the lookout for something to do, and isn't often seen sitting still.

Impulsive: acting or done without forethought

Quite possibly the exact opposite of his mother, Ryewhisker is not the kind of cat to look before he leaps. He doesn't think ahead or plan ahead, and jumps into things head-first. He's a bold fellow, something that's never changed, and it's plain to see that he lives rather vividly. He has a very active brain, of course, and he's smart as a whip. It's just that his intelligence isn't really focused on looking ahead. He's very much living in the here and now. He may not necessarily follow a lot of the rules set out for him, though it's not for lack of trying. Being his mother's son, Ryewhisker knows about rules and how to behave; it's just hard to do sometimes when he's always losing track of himself and doing things without stopping to think about it, especially when his protective streak runs so strong.

Ebullient: bubbling over with joy and delight

To put it in the simplest terms possible, Ryewhisker is just happy and rather bad at hiding it. He has his sad moments, for sure; he's capable of feeling more than just joy, but it's certainly his default emotion. He's brimming with it, excited about anything and everything that comes his way. Ryewhisker doesn't just find the silver lining in things; he makes himself comfortable in it until he's right at home. It's either infectious or annoying, depending on who you are and your tolerance levels for that sort of behavior. He's just a very upbeat, plucky little cat. Not much brings him down, except maybe thunderstorms, birds in flight, or heights.

Heroic: having the characteristics of a hero or heroine; very brave.

If there is one thing Ryewhisker doesn't like, it's a bully. He's not necessarily as rule-bound as his mother might be, but he won't stand for cats not treating each other with respect. He'd very much like it if everyone would not fight with or tease each other, just so he doesn't have to jump in and try to get them to please, for the love of all that is good in this world, just play nice with each other. He's afraid of plenty of things, but he'll summon up all the bravery that exists and face them if it means he's been of help to someone. His main tactic right now is to just sit on everyone to get them to behave, which is actually a bit counterproductive, but at least he's trying. He's doing his very best.

Forward: straight to the point

Ryewhisker just doesn't seem to be bothered much by the concept of rank when it comes to conversation. He'll tell you exactly what is on his mind no matter who you are. There is seriously a ninety percent chance that if the leader happened to walk up to him, he'd say whatever he happens to be thinking. It might come off as insensitive and disrespectful, but at least there's no secrets or beating around the bush with him.

Defiant: having an obstinately uncooperative attitude toward authority or discipline.

No one is really quite sure where it came from, but Ryewhisker has grown more and more resistant to being bossed around as he has aged from a kit into an apprentice, and now into a warrior His confidence grows with his personality, and with that, so does the youthful belief that he doesn't need someone older or wiser to tell him what to do. He'll go out of his way, if the whim strikes him, to do the exact opposite of what he has been told to do. It's a good thing he has such a pretty face; the elders are never going to tire of seeing him, and he's going to be seeing them a lot.

Before Ryekit:

The story is fairly simple in it's beginnings.

Boy meets girl. Girl meets boy. Girl and boy become friends and grow up together. Girl and boy eventually become more than friends when they are older and grown. Girl and boy decide to start a family.

Patchfeather and Beetleclaw both came to Oakclan during what was a rather large swarm of kits needing a home, along with most of their respective siblings. Parentless, they were taken in as new members of the clan and were raised in that environment. The two of them became rather fast friends not long after their arrival after playing with sticks, stones and acorns in games of make-believe. Even as their friend groups grew and the two of them grew older, they still managed to stay friends.

Nothing really stopped them. Not even Patchfeather's siblings, or at least the ones that had come along with her to Oakclan, began to slowly drift away or disappear altogether. If anything, it did bring them closer together, for Beetleclaw was the cat Patchfeather turned to most often.

They were warriors for quite a while before they took they next step in the development of their relationship, even as their peers grew up around them, finding mates and having kits. Sometimes rushing into it without much in the way of preparation, and sometimes only stepping into it after long talks, lots of thoughts, and many a confession of feelings. The seasons wore on, through rainy days and weeks of snow, and the two of them remained the best of friends.

Until newleaf came, feelings were confessed, and they became more. In a small, light-dappled clearing somewhere in the woods surrounding Oakclan's camp, with butterflies in their bellies, Beetleclaw and Patchfeather decided they would make a fine pair of mates. After all, they did love each other. Quite a lot, to be honest. It just made sense. It felt right.

The decision to have kits came on that same day in that same moment, and though it may seem a bit rushed to some (after all, hadn't they just decided to become mates in the first place?), Patchfeather was sure they'd made the right decision for them. They had known each other for most of their lives, and they had waited until they were older and more mature, so why not? Why wait, when the weather was so nice and warm and would be for a while?

After Ryekit:

Three kits. Two girls, and a boy.

Ryekit was born the only male in his litter, a round little butterball of a kitten that reminded his mother of his father back in their days as kits. Badgerkit and Mottlekit came along too, the three little darlings of parents who could not love them more.
