Description

Now look, I quit like Big Hero 6, there are some things I would change but not alot. So, where it came to doing a rewrite, the only thing I would fix are around the main villain "Yokai". Now, I like a good villain as most people do and story without a villain...can still work is some cases, but a story with a boring villain can ruin a good movie, so here how I would fix this movie's villain.

1: Have him turn out to be Taddashi Hamada

When I first sore this movie in the theatres, I was convinced that Hiro's brother was going to turn out to be Yokai, but I imagine that Disney didn't like the idea of a smart intellectual (something they promote) being a antagonist is one of these movies so that didn't happen. So here, Taddashi is Yokai who (like Robert Callaghan) wants to get revenge on Alistair Krei for a portal experiment, but here it's Hiro and Tabbashi's parents and not Callaghan's daughter, so now we know what happened to Hiro and Tabbashi's parents.

2: Make him take

When I look at Yokai, I think "he must have a badass voice", but he never takes with his mask on. So for the voice of Yokai, he need a grand powerful voice, maybe some like David Sucha or if you want an ancient acter, how about Benedict Wong.

3: Have him show up earlier in the story

They never explain what closed the fire at the university showcase (or maybe they did an I just wasn't paying any attention), so because I want him to have a bigger presence in this movie, I think he need to show up earlier during the first half, maybe at the start of the movie but also at the science expo and he's what started the fire. Of course, this is just a way for Taddashi to fake is death so no one will suspect him which explains why he ran back into a boring building rather than wait for the firemen to arrive.

4: Have Hiro want revenge on him before he knows who he is.

The hole revenge aspect in the third act was so forced and came too early, so because Yokai is Tabbashi in this version, it makes more sense to have the Hiro's revenge ambition came doing the midpoint as he sees that Yokai was responsible for Tabbashi's death, and when he sees it "is" Tabbashi, it makes him question himself morally.

5: Have him die at the end

If we’re going to go down this hole "theme of revenge" thing, then it only makes sense that Tabbashi faces the consequences of his actions and die because of it. How, I don't know, but it has to be a heroic on like Doc Oc from Spider-Man 2, and in this context, it makes it more tragic as, while he manages to get his parents back, he can never see them again.
