You know what I noticed? Remember when Loki fooled everyone by becoming Odin? Did you notice how nice he was to Thor? That was about the best freakin' parenting ever got from his father.....and it turned out to be Loki.
I mean....wow....

You have a point, Odin was terrible father not just to Loki but Thor too. There's even a deleted scene that shows that Odin wouldn't allow anyone to visit Loki. Thor didn't visit Loki because he didn't love him; he didn't visit Loki because he was terrified of his father. I also think he was so scared of disappointing Odin so he pretty much did whatever Odin wanted him to rather than following his own path. Odin even basically told Thor that his girlfriend Jane was worthless and because she was a mortal, he shouldn't try and save her. Pretty messed up that the first time he felt OdinΒ respected his decisions and what he wanted, it was his brother.
