Description (In the Langston Universe)

Stardate 2367.5, Like the Akira, Saber, Steamrunner and the Defiant-Class starship. The Pathfinder-Class starship was slated as part of the battle fleet to fight the Borg threat in 2366-2367. However, being that this ship was the largest vessel ever created at 815m in length, surpassing the Andromeda-Class and over 42 deck tall, the Pathfinder would tower over the other ships in the Federations Armada. But despite it's enormously, the Pathfinder-Class was more agile and maneuverable then it's predecessors and faster then the Intrepid-Class, cpaible of holding maximum cruising speed of warp 9.985 for twelve hours. In 2367.17 the Borg threat became less and less urgent, but the Pathfinder-Class was still remained development. Several designs that offered a more tactical role with in the armada, one was reminiscent to the old style Constitution and Ambassador-Class while another was more streamlined for a more sleek style and improved the structural integrity and warp field geometry. Ultimately the Program Director; Captain Thomas Halloway took the best of all the proposed designs and drafted the final concept.

Stardate 2369.17, After the subsequent rescue of Captain Montgomery Scott and Ensign Matt Franklin from the derelict U.S.S Jenolan, Starfleet Corps of Engineers offered Captain Scott and Ensign Franklin to join the development team. Eagerly accepting an opportunity to share his engineering skills with a younger generation, Captain Scott agreed and was made Asst. Program Director of the Pathfinder-Class Development Project. Captain Scott was able to incorporate his theories of trans-warp beaming into the matrix of the transporter as well as supplementing the phaser array's with warp plasma witch increased the yield by 30% and increased the efficiency of the warp core by 45%. By Stardate 2369.82, the keel of the U.S.S. Pathfinder was laid at Copernicus Shipyards, Luna.

Stardate 2373.5, The Enterprise-B was ordered to the Romulan Neutral Zone during the second Borg incursion. Starfleet was officially concerned about possible Romulan military action since many of the available ships had been diverted to fight the Borg, but in reality, Starfleet was concerned about Fleet Captain Picard's presence at the battle due to his previous assimilation as Locutis in 2366/2367. However, shortly after the Federation Armada of sixty vessels including the U.S.S. Defiant and the U.S.S. Lexington engaged the Borg diamond, Picard disobeyed orders and returned to Earth to assist the fleet.
Once the Enterprise-B arrived the Borg diamond targeted everything it had on the Enterprise-B. Due to his latent neural-link with the collective, Picard realized the Queen was on that ship. Senescing her relentlessness, Picard ordered the fleet to fall back and regroup behind the Enterprise-B. As they made there run, the Borg queen continued to target only the Enterprise-B, causing critical damage to it. With power now at limited levels, shields down, weapons gone and a micro fracture about to cause warp core breach; Picard ordered his crew to evacuate to the saucer modal as he took command of the star-drive hull and set a kamikaze course with the diamond but the auto-piolet system was destroyed leaving Picard to manual fly the ship to it's death. Picard then sealed off the secondary hull once all hands except him where on the saucer section, he then separated from the primary hull. Just seconds before the core breached and the Enterprise-B collided with the Borg Diamond and destroying it, the U.S.S. Lexington beamed Picard out.
Stardate 2373.53, At a formal hearing convened by Admiral Alynna Nechayev, Vice Admiral Gregory Quinn and Rear Admiral Phillipa Louvois into the loss of the Enterprise-B. Despite Admiral Nechayev's attempts to berate Picard, he was found not at fault and no formal charges where filed, however Admiral Quinn pulled Picard into his office and after a fifteen minute rant, fallowed by a hour-long counseling session with Lt. Commander Myra Elbry, Quinn informed Picard he was being transferred to the U.S.S. Yorktown (NCC-78501), upon dreading the end of the transfer orders from Fleet Admiral Demora Sulu, he also read...

"Special dispensation from Admiral Turak-Chief of Starfleet Operations: to here-by change the name and registry number from U.S.S. Yorktown; NCC-78501 to U.S.S. Enterprise; NCC-1701-C."

Stardate 2373.6, The newly commissioned U.S.S. Enterprise-C is launched from the San Francisco Fleet Yards orbiting Earth under the command of Fleet Captain Juan-Luc Picard. Prior to it's launch, Picard had several artifacts that survived the crash of the Enterprise-B's saucer section brought over like the full bar and artwork from Ten Forward that was places in the Enterprise-C's much larger Ten Forward lounge that hade two levels; the original conference table from the deck 2 observation lounge was placed in the conference lounge on deck 1 and the Tactical console and the command chairs from the main bridge was incorporated into the bridge layout of the Enterprise-C.

I like it alot! This ship has !!_tremendous_!! potential (with the word 'tremendous' underlined for greater effect). Seriously great job.

What would this text box be if I didn't use this space to offer you constructive criticism? I want to share something with you too: I've drawn a ship kind of like this one in the not too distant path. I've been playing Star Trek Online since the game was released so many years ago. There was a contest held like three or four years ago to "Design the Enterprise-F" and win a prize! Thankfully someone with more talent than me won it. That's the birth, as you probably already know, of the cruiser design with two dorsal primary-to-secondary hull connectors. The Enterprise-F!

The ship I made was kind of like yours. Once I scanned it into my pc, I started tweaking on it. I ended up stretching the secondary (engineering) hull out, only to the left and front, or more correctly: forward and aft. Not dorsally or ventrally. A bit later, I submitted it. Now everyone in the community of STO could vote on the submissions.

So it went a couple of weeks; maybe longer. I forget how much time passed but what really came out of it, at least for me, was the forum contest update that Cryptic posted. To paraphrase their log they logged: "It seems that most of you guys are submitting ships that look mainly like the Excelsior model. We're looking for something that we aren't used to seeing".

Reading that, I didn't think I'd be able to come up with anything better than the ship design I'd already submitted. That was that and best of luck to the rest of ya'll. Someone would win; it just wasn't going to be me.

Having said that I hope I can help everyone who reads this post when it comes to them, and you. Here it goes:

I think you should bring the secondary hull in closer on the x-axis, and then the y-axis starting at the dorsal curve coming off the bottom of the shuttle bay to about where the bottom-most leading edge of the nacelle pylon is at (making the ventral section of the engineering hull look more like the Excelsior). Then, move the location of the nacelle strut and pylon forward. Then increase the depth of the pylon's swept-back angle of attack.

The rest of the Langston Universe Pathfinder-Class Flagship is perfect!
