A couple of months ago I discovered the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. And, like so many that have read before me, I have totally fallen in love Jamie Fraser. Seriously. Guh.I don't have a lot of time for frivolity like this, but when inspiration strikes (mmm...Jamie), I can work all night.
This "illustration" is of Jamie and his wife, Claire. It's sort of a digital photo manipulation, but I did a lot of Photoshop "painting." I drew from MANY images... I was inspired by a scene from Rob Roy, and modified the faces of Gabriel Aubry and Keri Russell. Other bits and pieces are from my own photos.

Did you use a model for this image. This is the best one I've seen for both of these characters. After looking at these nobody else works. Do some more please, I love them and am collecting them.

They have now cast the Outlander series at Starz, so I guess when I start watching, the actors may eventually replace my imaginings. But I don't see how Sam H. (who lacks the features and rugged masculinity) will ever look more like Jamie (in a still shot at least) than this...

I think I asked the same question twice, so sorry, but that just goes to show how impressed I am with this image. Also, I totally agree with you about the series characters. I am trying hard to get these images of yours out of my head but it's hard to do since they fit just so well. The poor soul that is playing Claire has no boobs and butt and we all know how much Jamie talks about Claires endowments. Thanks for your enjoyable works.

I come back to ogle this pic time and again. It's the default image for Claire and Jamie for me (although my Claire more closely resembles Rachel W...) You've done an amazing job of capturing the spirit of the books and the adoration these two characters have for each other, and it's a fabulous image for us fans to gaze upon and dream. Looking forward to your future related works!

Thank you for FINALLY creating the perfect Jamie! I've been a fan of these books for years and have never found any picture or art that even kind of resembles how he should look! I'm not a Keri Russel fan, but even Claire is as close as I think anyone's going to get
...now if I could only find him in real life...

I've seen some of your work, and really love it! I'm kinda new to deviantART, but googling images of Jamie Fraser brought up some that you did, and helped introduce me to this site.
I use Photoshop so much with my job, that I'm rusty at the old tools I used to favor, namely charcoal and pen/ink. I've see a lot of drawings around this site that make me want to get some paper out... I'm just so out of practice!

I've noticed how other people have listed sources. I'm still trying to figure out how this site works... But, if you are REALLY interested in the sources of this manip, etc., I added a montage of the "before" images to my gallery, along with a little explanation.
But honestly, sometimes the way they turn out seems like magic... I'm not suggesting anything mystic - AT ALL. It's just, sometimes I'm not sure how it all comes together, and I'm the one doing it! (Weird.)
