The inspiration likely came from its role as a deuterium tanker. Deuterium is used as the matter in a matter/anti-matter warp drive. Thus, she is like a cow carrying milk. Also, Okazaki might have been inspired by tankerΒ from Great Space Battles. Part of that ship's hull resembled the head of a cow, and was affectionately dubbed "The Stellar Cow."
