Taken near to Arapuni Dam, in the Waikato, north Island, New Zealand, on the way to work one morning.I changed the shot settings to tunsten to get the effect, the beams of light etc are exactly as captured, the only alteration was the tungsten colouration and then I flipped the photo horizontally as I found the beams direction more pleasing to the eye.

May I ask what tripod(s) you use? I am looking to buy one and am asking for recommendations (willing to spend up to $300 USD).

Hi Kieth I use a slik pro 500dx, had it about 7+ yrs now bit heavy if walking far but solid as a rock. Works well for me.

i have been in similar situations in the past, the only thing i manage to do is observe such beauty. Next time i will try to focus on pressing the button of my camera
may i ask you if you used any NDs or whitebalance card or any other useful technique to get such depth and bring some details in the shadow areas of mountain ?

Thank you Vassilis for your kind words again. In respect of technique, so far i have not used filters on these shots. Have just got a lee big stopper and an nd filter again by Lee but trying to get the hang of them yet. I use photoshop, and also Nik color Efex which I beleieve is a useful programme to have. anything I can help with just let me know. I am no expert, there are much wiser photographers on here, but will always help if I can.
