Oh jesus. I'm glad I ddin't watch The Thing until I was a teen. I definitely had a problem with demon dogs even then.
And this doesn't help, as horrifically awesome as it's drawn.

Can't say I've ever seen that movie. But that multiple-jaw thing it's got goin' on reminds me of those things in the movie "Tremores".

I'm not the only one, then? Awesome. And hell yeah.
I remember sitting and staring into space for a while the first and second time I saw it. The first time being when I was 10, all alone in the middle of winter in a small town in Minnesota. : D

*shiver*
It's a GOOD thing, even if it does make you leave the lights on and have an unnatural fear of huskies for a few weeks afterwards...

Dude, lights never helped me.
I have to add that last summer I had sleep paralysis, and my brain did this awesome hypnopompic hallucination where I heard that noise "the thing" makes in the movie, and I heard it coming down the hall to my bedroom LIKE IT WAS REALLY HAPPENING. It was the best thing ever. I might have messed myself if I'd seen something because my eyes were half open and it was light in the room. Horror.
Anyway, this says "--again," where's the other one? I can't find it because I'm either blind or unlucky.

Holy crap, dude.
If I get super-stressed, I'll start seeing things as I get sleepy--once I was laying in bed and thought that a demonic 'Gollum' creature was scuttling along and down the wall at me. I ripped the comforter off the bed and flung it at the wall. Awesome.
And here's the first Thing sketch! Clickie clickie

Holy shitmat, hypnopompic/agogic hallucinations are either the best or worst things ever, then. And thanks for the linking.

The Thing was great. I couldn't get friends to watch it because it was too slow for them. >.>
