Description Bilateral Circular Spacing Revealed

This is one of a series that shows parts of the drawing Bilateral Circular Spacing that underlie the drawing Circular Spacing Intermediate2, with some twists.

I can't really say that I have a favorite piece in what I have posted so far, but this seems to be the one that people like the most. As I continue the series, this may change.

It is ink on bristol, 12" x 12", and took about 40 hours.

Thank you so much for the kind words! Don't get me wrong, I'm not apologizing for using rules. It's just an explanation of where my creativity lies. It's all in the up front devising of the rules, rather than aesthetic decisions as a picture develops. I'm totally and irretrievably disorganized in my personal life. Working in a strictly structured format in both my job and my art tends to balance this (or is it the other way round?)

Actually, the only summary I was going to give it is in the first 4 words! peninkartists insisted on more verbage to be able to post there.

There is nothing deep behind my drawings. They are permutations of "rules" that I use to determine where the next line will go. The creativity stops once I have defined those rules for a drawing in my mind. After that, it is pure grunt work. Thank god for good music and cats to distract me occasionally. Sorry if I disappoint you, but now my secret is out!

see proof you're insane. You chose to do it in the first place.
