Description I've been playing with Decoco on and off for a while, but never got round to putting an effort into rendering.

So I figured I'd both use her and sit down and try to work with pwToon, which I've been struggling with because of my usual tendancy to not RTFM.

I even did some postwork. And it wasn't the background - that was more mid-work when I realised she needed something to stop her floating in white space.

I dig the lines of her face, and all the soft curvy shadows. Wish I could take photos like this!

I'm really happy with how this render came out... It only needed some small corrections where the shadows didn't land entirely nicely. I just wish I'd learned when I did this about saving as a transparent .png and postworking in backgrounds - I added this one at the same time as I rendered and some of it came out more blurred than I'd like.

I should probably experiment more with this kind of style, but somehow I never seem to get around to it.

This is a fun change! She looks really cute, and your cell shading is really good! Floating in space wouldnt have been a terribly bad thing.. but this way makes the whole work look more interesting and eye catching!

I always like to see other people working with Cel Renders!

It's... more difficult than I expected! I dunno, I guess I'm so used to pwSurface and know what I'm doing in it that I expected to know what I was doing with pwToon; I was so wrong. XD;;

Thank you for the encouragement!

Yep! It is hard to make a Cel Render not look like a render. Unfortunately, I think a lot of people don't realize just how hard it is. I wished this type of work got more notice, but sadly, it doesn't.

I looked at this for a while before I read the comment, and up until that point I thought you'd drawn it by hand. If you hadn't said anything, I would've never guessed that this was a render.

Very well done, my dear!

What I love about the pwToon shader is that it's supposed to, well, make everything you render look cartoonish. In theory. In practice, it means spending a lot of time flailing around with settings you don't entirely understand because the tutorial program stopped working in D|S 1.8 and hasn't been fixed by 2.2...

Luckily, the blue 'technical render' option turns into a nice anime-styled shader once you remove the, er, blue.

Ohh I wish I could draw like this by hand... Decoco is so gorgeous a model (and free! I still can't get over the whole not-having-to-pay thing for her...) that I wish I could do her justice if I drew her...
